Chinmaya Sisters – Uma and Radhika are one of the leading and popular duo in the field of Carnatic Music. With their mellifluous voices, spirited singing and strict adherence to Classicism, the duo has captured the hearts of Rasikas worldwide They are senior disciples of Padma Bhushan Awardee Madurai Sri T N Seshagopalan and Kalaimamani Neyveli Sri R Santhanagopalan and have successfully imbibed and absorbed the specialities of their Guru’s style in their singing.
Originally from Mumbai, the sisters relocated to Chennai to devote
themselves fully to music. Their debut performance was in 1992 for the “Spirit of Youth” series of the
Music Academy. They are now regular performers in all the Chennai Sabhas in the December Music
Festival. They perform in prime slots and receive rave reviews for their concerts.
They have travelled extensively and performed in prestigious venues all across India and abroad. Some
of the countries in which they have performed are the USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and
Srilanka.
Their maiden tour of the USA was organised by the “Carnatic Music Association of North America”
CMANA in 2003. Since then they are regular performers in the USA and have also performed in the
prestigious “Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival”.
Their Canadian concert tour of 2016 was appreciated and recognized with Certificates of Merit from the
Mayor – Brampton city and Members of Parliament – Brampton and Mississauga – Ontario, Canada.
Sir Kaneshathasan Mahadevan

Sir Kaneshathasan Mahadevan is a distinguished Miruthanga Vidwan and educator originally from Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He began learning Miruthangam at age eight under Mr. K.B. Sinnarasa and later trained with Mr. Vennilan before earning his Master of Arts in Miruthangam from Annamalai University.
As the founder of the Maha Ganeshesthiram School of Miruthangam in Canada, he has mentored over a hundred students, many reaching the arangetram milestone. His school offers a ‘Gurukulam’-style summer program focused on musical and personal growth.
Kanesh regularly performs with leading Carnatic musicians such as P. Unnikrishnan, R. Suryaprakash, and Flute J.A. Jayanth and Chinmaya sisters. A sought-after accompanist for dance arangetrams. He performs for both Indian and Canadian artists, including at Chennai’s prestigious December Music Season.
Continuing his advanced training under Sri Neyveli B. Venkatesh, Kanesh remains committed to preserving and promoting Carnatic percussion, shaping the next generation of Miruthangam artists.
Shri Maiyuran Gireedharan

Maiyuran Gireedharan is a senior disciple of Sangeetha Vidwan Dr. Thanathevy Mithradeva. He is also the son of Mridanga Vidwan Sri Gireedharan Satchithanandam.
Maiyuran has been performing the violin for 14 years, both as an accompanying artist and a solo artist, and has had the privilege of sharing the stage with many well-established artists in Canada, USA, Australia, and India, including Papanasam Ashok Ramani, Kulabhooshani Kalyanaraman, Lakshmi Rangarajan, Chinmaya Sisters, Sandeep Narayan, Madurai Muralidharan, and many more. Over the past 6 years, Maiyuran has also performed the viola in several concerts, and has popularized the use of this instrument on Carnatic Music stages, including in many vocal recitals and bharathanatyam recitals. Maiyuran was bestowed the title “Yuva Prathiba” by the VVS Foundation for his contribution to Carnatic Music in North America.
Maiyuran is a designated Chartered Professional Accountant, currently working as a manager at a public accounting firm in Toronto, Canada, and as a lecturer at the University of Toronto, Scarborough Campus.
