Swar Sangam: A Symphony of Strings and Breath

Swar Sangam: A Symphony of Strings and Breath

Date: Saturday, September 12, 2026 —

Venue: The Orange Hub, Edmonton

Address: 10045 156 St, Edmonton, AB T5P 2P7

For one evening, four masters of Indian classical music share a single stage.

Pt. Indrajit Banerjee’s sitar and Dr. Ratish Tagde’s violin trace the raga in strings — one plucked and resonant, the other bowed and voice-like. Pt. Lokesh Anand answers on shehnai, the reed that has opened auspicious occasions across India for centuries. Holding it all together is Pt. Hindole Majumdar on tabla, whose rhythmic conversation turns four soloists into one ensemble.

Swar Sangam — literally, the confluence of notes — is built around that meeting: instruments that bend and breathe a melody in completely different ways, exploring the same raga together. Expect meditative alaap, intricate jugalbandi exchanges, and a rhythmic finale you’ll feel in your chest.

Doors 4:30 pm | Concert 5:00 pm
Tickets: $25 general | $20 students & seniors
