Keerthana Sankar grew up in a musical environment, learning music from her father at the age of two and able to identify ragas by the age of four. Keerthana has been undergoing vocal training from Sri Madurai R. Sundar, a premiere disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri T.N Seshagopalan, for the past 20 years, and from Sri Delhi P. Sunderrajan for the past 15 years. Keerthana has performed extensively in the United States, Canada, and India. She has won numerous awards at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival, and was also a winner of the prestigious Pallavi Darbar competition held in Chennai in 2017. Keerthana is also an accomplished violinist and has played with several senior vidwans. Keerthana was awarded with the “Best Violinist Award” for the sub-senior slot at Parthasarathy Swami Sabha during the December Music Season. Keerthana is an Internal Medicine resident physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA and will start her subspecialty training in pulmonary and critical care medicine this summer.
Karthik Iyer is a disciple of the renowned violinist and Sangita Kalanidhi designate, Smt. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi. Karthik began violin lessons with Guru Smt. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi at the age of four and is now a mature practitioner of his school, having imbibed the Lalgudi Bani of the legendary Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman with all its nuances. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi has carefully provided optimal learning techniques and groomed him to achieve this level of knowledge and proficiency. Karthik continues to inspire many young artists. Gifted with a keen sense of Laya and Raga Bhavam Karthik is sought-after young soloist as well as an accompanist. He has performed solos in several well known online platforms and has accompanied senior artists such as Vid Dr. Cherthalai KN Ranganatha Sharma, Vid Gayatri Girish, and Vid. Anahita and Apoorva Ravindran. Karthik has won prizes in several prestigious competitions such as the Advanced Pallavi competition of the Cleveland Aradhana. Karthik is also proficient in vocal music. Karthik’s initial training in vocal Carnatic music was under Smt. Vasanthi Iyer of Chicago. Academically, Karthik is a junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Physics and Math. Karthik simultaneously trains in western violin techniques and has been a part of the prestigious CYSO : Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Abhinav Seetharaman (Mridangam) had his initial training on the mridangam at the age of 7. He first learned from Sri N. Ganesh Kumar and Sri Vijay Ganesh, and later proceeded to learn from Sri Tiruvarur Vaidyanathan. Currently, he is under the mentorship of Sri Kumar Kanthan and mridangam maestro Guru Karaikudi R. Mani. He has performed worldwide with India’s leading musicians such as Dr. N. Ramani, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Sudha Raghunathan, Ganesh and Kumaresh, Unnikrishnan, Sikkil Gurucharan, and Ramakrishnan Murthy. Outside of performing, Abhinav has also taken up an educator’s role, conducting lecture-demonstrations, seminars, and workshops on South Indian percussion at universities and institutions across the United States. Abhinav is currently a graduate student in public policy at Harvard University and an alumnus of Columbia University.
